Mother Tekuo: planet, system and goddess

Notes on a living planet

Earlier posts have alluded to a supernatural presence on the planet Tekuo, something that does not conform to the laws of nature as they are generally understood on Earth. It is now time to examine these claims in more detail.

Planet as system

Since ancient times, many Tekuan religions have viewed the planet itself as a living system rather than an inanimate object. They have noted Tekuo’s ability to self-regulate. They have noted that living systems adapt to their environment and in turn adapt the environment to suit themselves.

Flora and fauna of Tekuo

Their similarities and differences from those of Earth.

The lifeforms of the planet Tekuo are broadly similar to those of Earth. This is not surprising, as they share similar homes.

Earth and Tekuo are rocky planets. Both have seas and magnetic fields. Both have oxygen and carbon dioxide in their atmosphere. They orbit at a similar distance from a sun of similar size.

Geophysics of Tekuo : more hard sums

The planet’s size, mass and composition, and how they affect the locals.

Readers may recall that an earlier post, Tekuo, astronomy and hard sums, looked at the planet Tekuo and its place in the solar system of Ayu. This post looks more closely at the planet itself.

Tekuo: what and where?

How to get there, looking around and meeting the locals.

Tekuo is an Earth-like planet, inhabited by sentient hominids. It is a little smaller than our world and orbits its sun in 385.33 days. Its leading civilisations, like Mohai, are at a slightly higher level of development than ours.

Languages of Tekuo: a typological overview

Some basic statistics for the planet’s languages, compared with the languages of Earth.

It is estimated that there are some 6,000 to 7,000 languages here on Earth. Tekuo is only 80% the size of Earth and only 24% of it is land (compared with 29% of Earth). This land is less densely populated than Earth and divided into just 85 nation-states.

Not surprisingly then, Tekuo harbours fewer languages than our world. The effects of modern communications, education and nation-building lower the total further to just 624 natural languages.

Tekuo, astronomy and hard sums

Some basic information about the planet.

My study area lies on Tekuo, an Earth-like planet inhabited by sentient hominids. Tekuo is one of six planets orbiting a class G2 sun, known as Ayu. The first three planets in the system are rocky. Tekuo is the second of these. Three gas giants lie in the outer part of the system. Tekuo lies in the habitable zone.

Welcome

Welcome to my website which is a study of the island of Mohai, its people the Romohai, and their language Lemohai. Mohai is a large island nation off the continent of Aheku, on a fictional world called Tekuo.

Tekuo is an Earth-like planet, inhabited by a race of sentient hominids called the Ike. They share their home planet with a range of supernatural beings.

I hope you enjoy your visit.
